I don't know what happened to my URL! Something changed and I can't figure out how to make it go back! Thanks to MM for pointing this out. I hope everyone knows that I didn't leave! TM : )
Monday here.... now it's almost over. How'd that happen? Hope you all had a relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. TM : )
Enjoy your time with your family this week, I know I will! I'm taking a little break from writing this week, but I'll be back after the turkey is gone. : ) I'm leaving you with a repeat from last year called, "Thankful."
Have a safe and warm holiday! TM : ) Thankful. That's how I feel this time of the year as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches. With many uncertain of what the near future holds, there is a constant in our homeschool lives that will remain... our strength with our hearts and minds... to pass that along to our children is a thankful gift in itself. TM : ) Okay, I wrote a post, thought it posted, came back, it's not here... I guess I'll try again! This is a good reminder on how we are supposed to behave. I could stomp around and tell you all about how wonderful my little Monday before Thanksgiving post was, I could cry and whine and blame my silly computer. I could have a fit and be grumpy the rest of the day, but I won't. It's no big deal and as much as I wanted to talk about holiday traditions, that's just not happening at this particular moment. Remember, how we behave when things don't go our way is being watched by our kids. Make sure you have your temper tantrum where the kids can't see, I have mine in my closet! TM : )
The weather is cooling down where I live. The radio started playing Christmas music today. It's Friday. I'm getting excited that the holidays are right around the corner and I'm in a great mood!
Today's curriculum? Writing lists. Thanksgiving menu, shopping list, to do list... doesn't that count for writing and organization? I let my youngest be in charge of the list. She sits at the counter and writes while I call out what we need in the pantry. She reads it to me during the planning and the shopping, and she remind me what we need to do and what we need to get. You won't find this curriculum in a textbook. This is fun learning at its best! Have a cozy weekend! TM : ) Sometimes you have to let them fail. I'm learning this the hard way with my first born. He will be 13 soon enough and it's time that I stop holding his hand. Sniff, sniff... I want to tell him that his history assignment is due in 3 days. He's had a week. I want to tell him if you wait until the 11th hour to do your literature assignment, then it won't be the best you can do. He had two weeks, but chooses two days prior to the class to even look at the assignment and now it's due tomorrow morning.
This is normal, right? We all did this at one time or another, right? How do they learn? By keeping my mouth shut and letting him fail. As much as I want to help him and tell him what needs to be done, I have to let it go. I'm having a hard time with this because I'm a Homeschool Mom, and we're not supposed to let our kids fail... but we are supposed to let them learn. TM : ) Inspiration comes in many forms. I've listed a few that have made my day, or made me feel like I wanted to do the same for someone else. Maybe it will inspire you to do, or to make you feel like teaching your kids that they can be the next big inspiration.
Time to reflect, time to catch your breath, and time to tell yourself, "I did it!" And you did. Have a wonderful weekend! TM : )
I can't believe it!!! One of you nominated AskTracy for Best Encourager for a homeschool blog at The Homeschool Post! Wow! What an honor! There is voting involved, but just being on the list is such a compliment that I have already won.
Today is a beautiful day. No matter what the weather looks like outside. We have the future ahead of us and we are so fortunate to be able to guide our children to be the best that they can be. Keep going, keep moving forward, and breathe! TM : ) |
