So I'll ask you to encourage me with what works for you. Do you have any creative/useful advice that can save me a few minutes here and there? Would love to hear from you. TM : )
It's that time again when I write about my favorite topic... TIME MANAGEMENT! YEA! Okay, not really, as I haven't mastered the concept of what works best for my family and I'm still looking for a solution. I don't know what it is that keeps me from organizing my time. Is it my homeschool mentality? You know, being so flexible that time seems to escape the clock. I carry a calendar in my purse, I write to do lists, but it seems like I still can't manage my time the same way I can't find that missing sock in the laundry pile!
So I'll ask you to encourage me with what works for you. Do you have any creative/useful advice that can save me a few minutes here and there? Would love to hear from you. TM : ) Every so often we need to step back and check out the view from another angle. When looking at something from the same perspective on a daily basis, sometimes we forget what the big picture view is and it doesn't seem very clear. Try stepping back. You might be surprised at how absolutely crystal clear the view really is. Have a great weekend! TM : )
Wow! I haven't posted since Friday! What's going on Tracy? I forgot, well it was sort of in and out of my brain, that Monday was President's Day, it threw me off and I kept thinking that Tuesday was Monday and then I forgot my Grandmas's Birthday, rushed to the phone to order her flowers (thank goodness for the time difference), kept missing the mailman because I needed to get a package to my cousin's son who sent me Flat Stanley for his homework assignment (mine or his?) but then I got the days all confused of when the mailman was supposed to come, realized that I'm bogging this week and here I am! PHEW! I need a personal secretary as I have been quite forgetful and easily thrown!
The good thing is that I'm a homeschool Mom. I'm resourceful, I'm flexible, I'm good on my toes and I get things done! So Monday or Tuesday, holiday or no holiday, I'll figure it out eventually. Hey... Aren't you a homeschool Mom? Ahhh, so you are. So you're all of the above too! We're good like that, even without a secretary. TM : ) Sometimes the week doesn't end quick enough. Other times, there is not enough time in the week. Either way, please remember to breathe and give yourself a pat on the back. You accomplished another week of teaching your kids to be the best that they can be. Good for you!
Have a happy, happy Friday and a wonderful weekend! TM : ) Being a homeschool Mom, I realize the importance of a like minded friend that understands what it is I am trying to do in this thing we call "homeschool." She understands because she too is a homeschool Mom. I don't know what I would do without this friend, she is that important to me. She encourages me, she cheers me on, and she is there to give me a hug when I need it.
She wrote me an email today that I want to share with you. Usually, I'm the one that writes this kind of stuff for you! Inspiration comes in many forms, and today my inspiration came in the form of an email. I hope this letter inspires you the way that it did for me. TM : ) Hi Tracy, It was so nice to chat with you, today! And you really are very kind about S. Truthfully, both our sons are totally out-of-the-box and brilliant. They both have their unique issues and personalities that color it all, as well. : ) I have often told S that L and he are great foils to each other. While they are both similar in their intelligence, they are very different in personality. L has that fire and think-on-his-feet strength and stage presence times a thousand, and S is the methodical, steady-as-he-goes, quiet logical type. But they both have the potential to reach for things in life that are beyond many people's reaches. Still, it's just not easy for them because our society doesn't embrace our out-of-the-box kids. Moms like us have to beat our own paths out for them and with them. So we should both pat ourselves on the back for all the work we have done to enable our kids to do what they do. Not easy, no, and not over by a long shot... but I think we are both doing the best we can! : ) Just my two cents (plus inflation)... All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!
Lucy Van Pelt- In Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz Happy Valentine's Day! TM : ) What a day! I hope you had the best Friday ever, because I sure did! : ) Today was the day that I got to see about 80 homeschooled kids smile and laugh with all their friends and new friends at the 6th Annual Valentine's Party Park Day. There must have been about 150 people there. What a turn out. Who says that homeschoolers don't know how to socialize!
Have a wonderful weekend! TM : ) So have you noticed my new font for AskTracy at the top left corner? What do you think? I'm making changes to this site, slowly but surely. I'm redoing my resource page and I have added (incomplete though) a tab called Websites that Teach page. If you have any suggestions for me, let me know because that's how we find some of the best stuff, word of mouth, right?
Change is always good. It keep things fresh and when you do it at a pace that matches your stride, the scariness of something new just doesn't seem so scary. Even if you do something, just a little something out of the ordinary, you might find the path you've been looking for all along. Hmmm, sounds like a lot of us who found homeschool. TM : ) Just a reminder... tell your kids that they can become anything they want to be. Because they can and you're helping them. TM : )
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. - Harriet Tubman I am fortunate to meet many new homeschool families. I am so happy that I am able to guide them and help with whatever questions come up. I don't know everything, but I do have experience, and with that experience, I can share what I know. Not everything works for everybody, but just knowing that someone has tried it helps smooth the path and not make the journey so bumpy.
So here's to experience. The more we do, the more confident we are and it shows. Not just to the neighbor down the street, but to our children that are watching everyday. So this is for you, from me, smoothing the path for you. Have a wonderful weekend, RELAX, and we'll chat again soon. TM : ) |
