It's the weekend, and I'm feeling pretty casual with my writing. I try to encourage you and inspire you during the week days, but the weekends, I tend to feel relaxed (hopefully) and a little more playful and empty brained! I hope you take the time for yourself during the weekends to take off your "teacher cap" and put your fun loving "Mommy cap" on. I'm not saying that we're not fun-loving during the week days, I'm just saying we are a little more serious with our thoughts on how to make it to Friday. Be free to relax and don't worry about every little thing that pops up to turn in to a school project. You do that, don't you? I know you do, because I do the same thing! The weekends are made for relaxing, throw your "teacher cap" in the closet. TM : )
It's Friday. We did it. Give yourself a pat on the back for teaching your children and have a wonderful weekend. TM : )
Now repeat after me... I am great. I am awesome. I am tired. I am teaching future leaders of this country. I am really sleepy. I am a good teacher. I am a good Mom. I am ready for bed. Well wait a second, what if you're reading this in the morning? Okay, repeat after me... I am great. I am awesome. I am teaching future leaders of this country. I am a good teacher. I am a good Mom. I am ready for a nap! TM : )
Growing, learning, changing. Which one comes first? Are you growing when you learn and then change comes? Or do you change because you're learning and with knowledge you grow? But yet another view would be if you learn then you change, and with change you grow. So which is it? I think there are no wrong answers. So why am I trying to confuse you and make your head spin? Because I'm here to give you a new view, and homeschool is exactly like these questions I gave you. Math, reading, writing. Which one comes first? Ha... Gotcha! There are many ways to teach your children, and there are no wrong answers. Only options. TM : )
This is your life. This is your chance to make your life the best it can be. This is your chance to make your life count when it comes to making someone else's life the best it can be. Do you do that? Are you thinking about it? Don't think so hard, do you know why? Because you DO make someone's life the best it can be everyday. When you are making your life the best it can be, you are teaching your children that they too can live their life the best it can be. You pave the way for your children every single day to live life to the fullest. I don't think you'll find that lesson plan at a traditional school on a day to day basis. Homeschool, it's more than just another work page, it's a lifestyle! TM : )
Okay, here I go... NO! I don't want to! Yes, I must. Just say it already... ORGANIZATION... HA! I said it! That wasn't too bad. So how do I start? Well, maybe I'll start my new organization skills by looking at my school nook once in a while and pretend it's in order. Nope, no can do. How about hiding the stuff on top and putting it underneath? Ummm... NO. Hide it under my bed? Nada. I KNOW! I'll pick up 5 items every time I pass by. I think I can, I think I can! I CAN do that. Do you need to do that too? Okay, we'll do it together. One step at a time, you know, baby steps. Didn't I just write about that? But this time we'll use it for organizing our school stuff. Okay, gotta go. I'm on my way to a cleaner school nook, 5 items at a time. Small increments, a little bit at a time, baby steps... to the top of Mt. Everest! TM : )
You're the BEST! Tell yourself that. Don't laugh! Just do it. Come on, say it with me, "I'm AWESOME!" Okay, so I changed a word. I'm allowed to do that. We are allowed to take something good and change it in to something GREAT! Isn't that what we do everyday teaching our kids? Taking kids that are good and making them great! TM : )
Friday is a good day to feel great about all your accomplishments from this past week of teaching. What? You didn't do enough? Of course you did! Why do we always think that we didn't do enough? If your child learned ONE thing today, and really learned it, you have just poured more cement on their foundation of learning. And each time you teach, you add another layer, and another layer, and what do you think will happen? That's right... The Hoover Dam! TM : )
