Do your best. We tell our kids that all the time. Now I'm saying that to you. Some days are frustrating and finding the answers are not always easy, but it's funny how the answers just seem to appear. When your child tells you that he is doing the best he can, how do you respond? I know what you tell him. I say it too. "As long as you're doing the best you can, than that's all that matters." Are you doing the best you can? Than that's all that matters. TM : )
Ever have one of those days when nothing seems to be going your way? Yep, I'm having one of those right now. Breathe Tracy, deep breath! Oldest is not responding to directions, youngest is upset and has a cold, my first post today disappeared with only a title showing... big breath, it will be okay. You know what? It will be okay. Think "new view", my youngest will get better, so will my oldest, and I'm going to have a glass of wine after they're in bed! TM : )
Did you hug your kids this morning? Did you enjoy your morning cup of coffee? Did you say something encouraging? Have you told yourself, "I can do it, I'm a great teacher, we are going to have a good day today."? What do you mean you forgot to say that you're a great teacher? Of COURSE you are! You are the BEST teacher your kids will ever have, ever... period. So check that one off your to do list for today. TM : )
Where has the week gone? Oh yes... math for my 1st grader, Mark Twain literature homework for my 6th grader, math for my 1st grader, Ancient Civilizations- the tests for my 6th grader, math for my 1st grader, and oh yeah, did I mention math for my 1st grader? My youngest should be in college math in about another 2 weeks if she keeps this up! : ) The joys of homeschool. To really, really learn something and at your own pace is another point (make it a 2 pointer!) for homeschool! Have a wonderful weekend, see you on Monday. TM : )
Keep going. You're almost there. Do you need another breath? Take one, because I'm taking one too! I think I need coffee more than another breath... Okay, just saying the word "coffee", ahhh... I feel better already. We're doing it. We are completing another day of teaching our children. We are teaching them to be great. And I'm reminding YOU that YOU are great too! TM : )
Hey Moms! This one's for you... Don't doubt yourself. Know yourself. Don't make excuses. Make decisions. Don't compare yourself. You are unique! Have a sensational day. TM : )
Lately, math has been the favorite subject for my youngest. Believe it or not, math has been the ONLY subject that my little first grader will do. As she explains to me, "I have to master 4th grade math Mom!" I have been quite calm about this as she is past her grade level, but what about any other subjects? I do realize that anything to do with the alphabet; reading, writing, you know, ENGLISH, has gone out the window for the moment. So what am I to do? Well, ... I let her do as much as she wants. I have to remind myself that this is homeschool and math is the "new black". TM : )
I hope you had a great weekend and you are feeling refreshed and ready to start a new week of teaching. Every Monday I feel a little bit like Pooh Bear. One of Pooh's favorite sayings is, "What's for breakfast?" In other words, I wonder what's going to happen today? Isn't that a wonderful thing about teaching at home? The excitement of something new. I feel optimistic about the week ahead and hoping my children will feel the same as Pooh Bear. TM : )
It's Friday, it's Friday, tra,la,la,la,la! If you could see me doing my little Friday dance (actually, I'm glad you can't!), you would probably get up and dance with me (or point at me and laugh!). So off we go in to the weekend, enjoy yourself, you deserve it. Until Monday... TM : )
Don't stop believing in your teaching abilities when you are having a rough day. Sometimes we do that. But don't. You are getting better every day! TM : )
