So now that summer is officially here, I will actually take a little break, refresh, rejuvenate, and have a new view when I get back to my computer in a few weeks. Aloha, AskTracy : )
Happy Friday! But this is more than just a Friday, it's a 3 day holiday weekend that also includes the official start to... SUMMER! Congratulations on making it through the school year of teaching your children that they can be the BEST at whatever they choose to be. Wether your homeschool year was a year, a month, or a week, wrap your arms around your body and give yourself a BIG hug , tell yourself, "I did it!" There is nothing more important than teaching your children to be the best that they can be... NOTHING.
So now that summer is officially here, I will actually take a little break, refresh, rejuvenate, and have a new view when I get back to my computer in a few weeks. Aloha, AskTracy : ) You're doing it! Keep on going. With all this teaching going on, the world will be a much "smarter" place! TM : )
People think that homeschool is just for the kids, little do they know! Since becoming a homeschool Mom many years ago (going on 8 years!), I have to say, I've gotten pretty smart! I mean, I still have to do my homework, gotta keep up with the kids questions and act like I'm smarter then they are. You know what I mean. These homeschool kids think they're SO smart... oh wait a second, THEY ARE! Hey, if they're so smart, how did they get that way? A-HA! From us! WE DID IT! We gave them the tools, we gave them encouragement, we gave them our time, now look at them go! We did it, YOU did it, pat yourself on the back. We are smart homeschool Moms and we got that way teaching our kids. TM : )
I'm making today... Tuesday Thank You Tennessee Day! No wait, how about Awesome Alabama Day! Hang on a second, I KNOW, Very Cool Carolina Day! Well, then there is Totally Tubular Texas! Oh gosh, almost forgot about Howzit Hawaii! Since I'm at it, I want to make sure and include Never Idling Idaho! You know, I need to involve the state that I live in... Splendid Southern California... Okay, Tracy is loosing her mind at the end of the school year! But I am not lost in giving thanks to YOU the readers of AskTracy. Keep up the great job that you are doing teaching your children. And don't forget, no matter what, YOU are an excellent teacher! TM : ) It's Monday. We are almost done with the school year. Keep up the good work and know that you are appreciated! TM : )
As a homeschool Mom, I am always trying to stay ahead of my children. It's like a race to see who can come up with the correct answer first, or at least who can argue the point best. This, of course, is a race unknown to my kids. Little do they know, I'm in the dark corner researching and preparing for their questions. "MOM! Do you know how blah, blah, blah makes the blah, blah, blah turn different shades of green?" Me: "Uhhhh, did you look in the dictionary?" I'm constantly on my toes when it comes to witty remarks, especially when the words come out of my mouth. "Why do you think the blah, blah, blah turns green?" And if I've been doing my job right, they usually come up with the correct answer all on their own. So I've made it through another week of staying in front, if you need me, you'll find me in the dark corner doing my research. TM : )
P.S. Have the greatest weekend! Homeschooling my children has given them an opportunity to learn topics that they really enjoy. The BIG topic in our household is music. Music has always been in our lives and one of the many reasons we chose to homeschool. There is not a day that goes by that I don't hear a piano or some sort of string instrument before 9 am. I am so lucky! But you know what? I know that there is a BIG topic in your household as well. It may be sports, or drama, dance, or maybe the mad scientist lives in the bedroom next to yours. Whatever the BIG topic is for your household, appreciate it! Remember that it's your child's passion, not yours. You are there to help guide them along the path that they enjoy. Keep learning fun and they will love what they do. And that's a gift that you will give them that will last a lifetime. TM : )
What to do about summer break, hmmm... I'm thinking about why I started this blog. I started it to encourage homeschool families. To make you feel that you're not the only one and to have someone understand what you are going through. To let you know that you can do it, that homeschool is a lifestyle and worth every effort that you put into your kids. I bring this up as the school year is almost over and I'm not sure what to do about this blog for the summer. This is my first blog and I'm not a pro at it quite yet. I'm not done with it, just thinking out loud & online. So in the meanwhile, keep teaching your children to be the best they can be. And keep remembering that you are the best teacher to help them achieve this task. TM : ) Life has been pretty topsy-turvy around my household lately. Not in a bad way, just everything thrown in my direction at one time. We all go through it, we just have our certain time of the year when we do, and my chaos is usually about now. So to save some thinking room in my brain, I've got a repeat for you titled, New @ Homeschooling...
When you are new to the homeschool lifestyle, please remember... You'll be OKAY! In the beginning, it is intimidating, it is new, it is scary to take on your child's education! To keep calm, take a deep breath and remember that you have decided to homeschool for a reason. Keep that thought with you as you move along this path that you are unfamiliar with. Please realize that you are not alone. We have all started where you are right now. If you are nodding your head in agreement with this post, read The Unknown when you have a moment. I promise, you'll be okay, I've still got my hair to prove it! TM : ) You are teaching your children to be the best at whatever it is they want to be. Doesn't it feel good knowing that they have a chance to be great at something they love? To learn something, to find it interesting, to want to do that for a living, when the light turns on at something they enjoy, it becomes a passion. Thanks to you, your children are finding their passion. Keep up the good work! TM : )
