It's the end of the day. Did you accomplish what you were supposed to do? Of course you did! You spent your day teaching your children to be the best that they can be. Good for you! TM : )
Why is Mondays so hard? I prepare myself, I let the kids know what's on the agenda, I try to get in bed at a reasonable time the night before...
It started with the thunder clouds floating above my son's head. I could see the frustration starting over a math problem that he was working on and I tried to take cover and bring him with me. Then the wind kicked in and the rain started to down-pour and next thing you know we're caught in the middle of a ferocious storm with no signs of a silver lining! Okay, slight exaggeration. I want to let you know that these storms happen wether you are prepared or not. Homeschool enables us to deal with these storms the best we can for our kids and help them understand why these storms happen to begin with and how not to get soaked in the process. Easier said than done! The sun did eventually come out and hopefully we'll have our raincoats handy the next time I see those clouds rolling in. TM : ) I can't hep it. I just have to post this a few times during the school year. It's called Friday Cheer...
We are the homeschoolers, the mighty, mighty homeschoolers... every where we go, people want to know, who we are, so we tell them... WE'RE ON A FIELD TRIP! TM : ) Hi! How are you doing today? Me? I'm doing good. Just like you, I need a little reminder to keep me going. So I found this in the archives to remind me and encourage you, it's called, "Remember?"...
I am here to remind you that you chose homeschool for a reason. What was that reason? Do you remember? Of course you do. That's why you're still homeschooling. That reason is so important to you and your family. You changed your lifestyle for that reason. Keep that reason with you and put it in your back pocket. On days that are hard, pull that reason out of your pocket and remember. On days that are great, pull that reason out of your pocket and remember. Oh yeah, one more thing to remember, you're doing a great job! TM : ) I just want to remind you all to take a deep breath and remember that you are doing an awesome job teaching your kids. The longer you homeschool, the better you become at relaxing. I'm finally getting it! I'm finally realizing that it's not just about the curriculum, it's about over-all smartness. It's about teaching your children to teach themselves. As long as they can find the answer, there is no stopping them in what they want to learn.
Okay, I'm breathing and I'm relaxing! TM : ) Today is the day I give you, the readers of AskTracy, a big MAHALO!!!! You truly inspire me to keep on doing what I do. It is alway so nice to see when you visit. So thanks again to the regulars of Alabama, Texas, Idaho, California, and Virginia... Oh yeah, South Carolina and what would I do without Hawaii? To the new readers of Georgia and the UK, thanks for making your way, it is appreciated! TM : )
Wonder Twin Powers.... ACTIVATE! Form as... A super hero family that we call homeschoolers! Okay, so maybe super heroes exist only in comic books; but if you are teaching your children to be the best they can be, then you are a super hero to me! TM : )
The more I read about the school system in our country, the more I am thankful that I am able to homeschool my children. I'm once again reading, "Dumbing Us Down" by John Taylor Gatto. As I reread the pages that I've read so long ago, I am reminded that what I do, what we do, is important. It's more than education, it's a feeling of wholeness. For our children and for our families. Keep doing what you are doing, it's working! TM : )
I know. It's only been a couple of weeks since we started school and I'm already counting down the Fridays. It must be something I learned in traditional school, because if I was a product of homeschool, Fridays probably wouldn't mean as much. Okay, never mind that idea. I can hear my kids in the background with the happy chant of, "Yea, it's Friday!" So here's to Friday!!! Have a great weekend! TM : )
The end of the day... time to reflect, time to relax, and time to tell yourself, "Good job! You did it!" Another day of teaching your children to be the best at something they love. Keep it up! TM : )
